Featured Artist, May 4-11: Karen Maynard, Paper, Wood & Cloth

Artist Statement
Karen Maynard is a Louisville-based artist who has called the Beechmont neighborhood home for over 20 years. Driven by a passion for recycling and reusing, Karen transforms scrap fabric and old clothing into beautifully crafted pieces that celebrate sustainability and creativity.
When she’s not at her sewing machine, Karen can often be found jogging or strolling through her Beechmont neighborhood, gardening, or spending quality time with her husband and their two teenagers. An avid puzzle enthusiast, she loves diving into her Games World of Puzzles magazines whenever she has a moment to unwind. Karen also brings her passion for sustainability into her professional life, working for Louisville’s Waste District, where she’s dedicated to educating residents about waste management and recycling. Her work and hobbies reflect her commitment to resourcefulness, creativity, and community.
